Span 3 Administrative Officer
Purpose of job

To work as part of a team to ensure that the court, tribunal or office meets its aims and objectives, by completing all process to the required standard and within the required time. There is a high profile placed on customer service. Administrative Officers undertake a wide range of administrative duties and make up the majority of staff in an office.

Contact with others

Reporting to a Section Manager and working with colleagues as part of a team, although the jobholder will be expected to work without supervision after training. Meeting the public, legal profession and judiciary.

Span 3 Bailiff
Purpose of job

To work both independently and as part of a team visiting sites to serve documents and enforce County Court judgements by recovering money and carrying out the seizure and sale of goods.

Contact with others

Working within a team of bailiffs reporting to a Bailiff Manager, although the jobholder will be expected to work without supervision after training. Meeting the public and outside organisations, members of the legal profession and other law enforcement bodies.

Span 2 Court Usher
Purpose of job

To work as part of a team in County and Crown Courts to ensure the efficient operation of the courts, under the direction of the Court Clerks, placing a high profile on meeting the requirements of customers. Court ushers prepare the courtrooms, help maintain order in the court, assist with the swearing in of witnesses and jurors. Act as Jury Bailiff when the jury retires to consider verdict in the Crown Court. Occasionally this may involve an overnight stay in hotels. Some out of court duties (such as post handling) are also included.

Contact with others

Reporting to a Supervising Usher or Section Manager and working with colleagues, including Court Clerks as part of a team. The jobholder will be expected to work without supervision after training. Meeting the public, legal profession and judiciary.

Span 2 Administrative Assistant
Purpose of job

To work as part of a team to ensure that the court, tribunal or office meets its aims and objectives, by completing all process to the required standard and within the required time, with high profile on meeting the requirements of customers. Administrative assistants undertake a variety of duties including extracting files, filing, data input onto computers, drafting routine letters photocopying documents and using fax machines.

Contact with others

Reporting to a Section Manager and working with colleagues as part of a team, although the jobholder will be expected to work without supervision after training. Meeting the public, legal profession and judiciary.
