Queens Bench Division, Action Department, Masters' Support Unit and Foreign Process
The Foreign Process Section undertakes work under international obligations on behalf of the Senior Master, who is the central authority for England and Wales, under:
- The Hague Convention of 15 November 1965 on Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters
- The Hague Convention of 18 March 1970 on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters
- Council Regulation (EC) No 1348/2000 of 29 May 2000 on the service in the Member States of Judicial and Extrajudicial documents in Civil or Commercial matters
It also deals with the taking of blood tests coming from abroad relating to Paternity cases and for welfare reports coming from abroad relating to Adoption cases.
Service of documents to and from other countries are governed by:
- The European Service Regulation
- The Hague Convention
- And bilateral agreements.
